Overview
Owned and operated by Churchill Downs Inc., BetAmerica is an online casino available in New Jersey since October 2019. In New Jersey, online casinos must have a retail counterpart, and BetAmerica, which is powered by SBTech, partnered with casino juggernaut Golden Nugget in Atlantic City.
With Churchill Downs Inc., SBTech and Golden Nugget in the fold, BetAmerica should have a formidable product. Here’s a closer look at the online casino.
Promotions and Bonuses
As mentioned in the cons section above, the promotions with BetAmerica are not the strongest. Other than the welcome bonus, there is just a slot of the week campaign, where if you bet $10 on that specific slot, you will get 20 free spins.
Speaking of the welcome casino bonus, though, it cannot be overlooked and it is arguably one of the best in the entire industry.
With promo code “PLAY500”, players will receive a 25 percent deposit bonus up to $500 and this requires a modest 10x playthrough.
Not only is $500 on the higher end of what we’ve seen with online casinos, but for that amount of money and comparing to just a 10x playthough, you would think that getting a bonus $500 would require an exorbitant playthrough amount of, like, 40x or more (which is something we have seen regularly).
Current Promotions at BetAmerica Sportsbook
BetAmerica has a selection of promotional bonuses available to users of their site. Many of them simply need you to opt-in and meet certain requirements such as making certain account deposit or bet, while others are only available to people who’ve just signed up.
Below is a current list and assessment of BetAmerica’s promotions:
- Risk-Free Bet up to $1000: Sign up for a BetAmerica account to redeem this bonus. Place your first bet and receive the amount of your first bet back in bonus money if your first bet loses. Please be aware that not all bet types and odds will be eligible and you’ll have to wager at least 3x the value of the bonus before withdrawing any funds.
- Bet $5 Get $20: Just opt-in, bet $5 and get a $20 free bet. Unfortunately, the wagering requirement carried by this bonus would make you bet at least $20 (the entire bonus) before you can withdraw any of it.
- Free $20 Live Bet: Just opt-in, make a $20 live bet and get a free bet worth $20. BetAmerica offers this bonus to pick up the use of their live betting feature. Again, this bonus comes with wagering requirements that make it lose its value.
Registration
With BetAmerica only being a New Jersey product, the registration process is probably fine and not a huge deal, considering that the Garden State and the Atlantic City ecosystem is fairly hip to what to expect with online casinos.
However, new players could be turned off by this with the expansion into other states and, who knows, even brand new players in New Jersey.
The registration process is done in three steps, with the very first step requesting the social security number. This, as well as the other information such as address and name are all totally understandable requests, but it’s the presentation.
An alternative would be to put everything required on one page so users can see everything up front.

User Experience
Using BetAmerica on desktop is seriously one of the easiest online casino interfaces we’ve encountered. It’s simple and not overly unique or innovative, but that is OK. The point is to make everything as easy to access as possible.
There are links to the casinos at the top of the page, as well as the promotions page. Below this are the game types and a search option and a bit further down are the actual games in order of how they are listed on the menu above, with graphics included. These games can be filtered by type and even further filtered by alphabetical order, popularity and by provider.
It’s straightforward. Log on to the site. Click on casino, click the game type and go from there.
Mobile Usability
Available for mobile web browsers and apps for both Android and iOS, again, BetAmerica is nicely laid out and is nearly a carbon copy of the desktop version.
This seamless transition is key as users will not need to learn multiple platforms for the same product.
Of course, to scale to smaller sizes, there are some minor differences like icons at the bottom of the app for a direct link to the casino, but everything is exactly the same otherwise.
Unlike BetAmerica’s competitors, there aren’t any mobile betting options except for horse races. If you’re looking to access the sportsbook from your mobile device, you’re out of luck. The BetAmerica site is not accessible from mobile browsers and there is no sportsbook app available for BetAmerica at app stores. It’s a huge negative for the sports betting provider.
Software
What makes BetAmerica so diverse is the amount of software providers BetAmerica has used to bring its library to life. If you have particular providers, chances are BetAmerica has partnered with them as the list features prominent names such as NetEnt, Konami, Everi, Ezugi, IGT and SNFT-Bally.
The desktop site features an attractive menu and easy-to-use interface that make the overall online gambling experience at BetAmerica an excellent one. BetAmerica Sports is brought to you by the same company behind their horse race betting site, BAM Software LLC. The sportsbook software is proprietary and controlled by itsparent company.
Game Options
With hundreds of total casino games to choose from and myriad game types, here is a full guide of the options, with the amount of games per type included:

The live stream is crystal clear and there is no annoying lag and all of the live dealer games are provided by Ezugi.
Here is a full list of the offerings:
- Unlimited 21 Blackjack Auto Split ($1 minimum)
- Blackjacks

Sports and Markets available at BetAmerica
Many of the sports that BetAmerica covers have multiple markets across different countries. This online sportsbook offers a variety of sports betting markets. Depending on the event you’re betting on, you’ll be able to place a variety of bets. Place straight moneyline bets, multi-bet parlays, teasers, prop bets and even handicaps.
From the major US sports to European markets, there’s a formidable selection of sports betting markets available with BetAmerica. The sportsbook has all the betting markets listed here:
- Football: BetAmerica brings you ample opportunity to bet on American football, including the NFL and the NCAA.
- Basketball: Bet on college teams with BetAmerica because the NBA is not available. Plus, there’s betting for Euroleague basketball and the Champions league of Europe.
- Tennis: There are tennis betting markets offered from the US, France, Bulgaria, Australia and about ten other countries.
- Golf: There is golf betting provided for US and international tournaments.
- MMA: Bet on MMA fights happening in the UFC and internationally.
- Motor Racing: Bet on the upcoming NASCAR races.
- Boxing: Find betting markets for boxing matches happening all around the world.
- Baseball: Bet on the MLB throughout the season and place your picks for the winner of the World Series.
- Aussie Rules: BetAmerica has a betting market available for football from Australia, covering the AFL.
- Rugby: With sports betting markets for rugby tournaments in Europe and on an international level, BetAmerica brings betting on rugby matches that have the most global attention.
Betting Odds
The odds at BetAmerica Sports are not much different from the odds available at other NJ sportsbooks. There is nothing special about them. They tend to favor the house and not the person betting with them, which is not out of the ordinary when dealing with sportsbooks in New Jersey.
Betting Features
- Live Betting: This feature allows gamblers to bet on an event as it’s happening. Betting after the games begins means you get the most updated lines before you bet. With live betting, you get to react to the action as it unfolds.
- CashOut: This feature is available whenever you’re live betting. With CashOut, you can settle your bets before the end of the event. Use CashOut to receive a reduced amount of your stake to avoid the hit of a straight-up loss.
VIP programs
Currently, BetAmerica does not offer a VIP Program.
Support and security
If being associated with SBTech, Golden Nugget and Churchill Downs Inc. weren’t enough for you to be content with BetAmerica, then let’s look to the state licensing.
In order to operate, BetAmerica received a license from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. In order to receive this kind of license, online casinos must possess software and other things needed to protect customer data and information. In receiving this license, BetAmerica passed this rigorous test and continues to adhere to the protocols outlined by the state.
For customer support, BetAmerica offers four services.
There is a comprehensive FAQ section which answers almost every question you’d have about the site, but if that doesn’t do it for you, you can contact BetAmerica by email 24/7, live chat (and there is an icon for that in the bottom right-hand corner of the page), and phone support, which is available from 9am - 11pm eastern standard time.
Responsible gambling
It’s not too often an online casino will have a Responsible Gaming section that captures our attention, but the overall detail and sincerity did just that with BetAmerica.
The Responsible Gaming section of BetAmerica can be access at the bottom of the page or through the green “RG” logo at the top of the page.
Not only are the usual hotlines and organizations and in-house limitations that you can put on yourself are there, but there’s even more information in terms of myths, warning signs and how problem gambling could impact you in multiple facets of your everyday living.
There is just more information here than is probably necessary and that is an incredibly good thing by BetAmerica and exhibits a true desire to protect the user(s).
In summary
If BetAmerica can refine the registration process and add some new and creative promotional offerings to the casino, BetAmerica could very well be one of the better online casino offerings in the state of New Jersey. The lack of a VIP Program is not problematic yet as BetAmerica is so new and it makes sense to establish a user base before offering anything of that sort. All in all, though, BetAmerica, considering its age is an excellent online casino option, especially when you factor in the games offered, the welcome bonus and the Responsible Gaming section of the site.

New Jersey’s horse racing lineage goes back almost as far as the history of the state itself. More recently, New Jersey online horse betting became an option for bettors in the state.
The Garden State is home to Freehold Raceway, the oldest racetrack in the US. Freehold Raceway began hosting races in the 1830s and formally opened in 1854.
The state banned all forms of gambling from 1894 to 1939. Pari-mutuel betting on horse racing became legal again in New Jersey in 1939.
New Jersey currently hosts three major racetracks and a handful of off-track betting (OTB) parlors. One legal mobile horse race betting platform, 4NJBets, also operates in New Jersey.
New Jersey Online Horse Betting Sites
Online Horse Race Betting Site | Bonus Offers | Other States |
---|---|---|
4NJBets | $200 Risk-Free Bet | NJ only |
4NJBets
New Jersey bettors enjoy access to one legal online horse race betting platform, 4NJBets. Owned and operated by TVG Horse Racing, 4NJBets acts as the only mobile horse race betting site regulated by the New Jersey Racing Commission.
4NJBets launched in 2007. TVG, one of the biggest brands in the US horse racing industry, acquired 4NJBets in 2013.
New bettors that register for an account at 4NJBets can access a risk-free bet offer, up to $200, after their first deposit.
The 4NJBets platform can be downloaded as a mobile app for iOS and Android devices. The site can also be accessed through a desktop browser.
What Kinds Of Bonuses Are Available At 4NJBets?
Risk-Free Bet
The $200 risk-free bet offer at 4NJBets applies to the first bet made after an initial deposit on the platform.
After registering for a 4NJBets account and making a deposit, new bettors can apply the risk-free bet offer to any “Single Horse Win Bet.” If the bet results in a loss, 4NJBets will refund the full amount of the bet, up to $200.
For example, if a new player makes a $200 bet as their first bet on 4NJBets, and the bet loses, the player receives a $200 rebate. A $100 bet garners a $100 rebate.
Bets of more than $200 can only earn a maximum of $200 as a refund. A $500 bet, for instance, would receive a $200 refund in the event of a loss.
Referral Bonus
Bettors with an active 4NJBets account can earn a $25 referral bonus for bringing new players to the platform.
The referral bonus offer can be found under the “Promotions” tab at the top-left of the main lobby. The link opens a menu allowing 4NJBets account holders to send a referral link to potential new players.
New bettors who sign up with the referral link can enjoy a $25 deposit match bonus, as well as a $100 match bonus on their first bet.
A referral’s first deposit at 4NJBets yields a $25 bonus for the bettor who sent the referral link.

Is Horse Race Betting Legal In New Jersey?
New Jersey’s horse race betting tradition goes back to the early 1800s. Along with 19th-century state lotteries, horse race betting is the oldest form of gambling in New Jersey.
Gambling was formally banned in New Jersey from 1894 to 1939, but horse race betting was made legal again in 1939.
Pari-mutuel horse race betting, both retail and online, is legal in New Jersey.
History Of Horse Racing In New Jersey
Freehold Raceway, the oldest horse racetrack in the US, began holding races in the 1830s. The original Monmouth Park Racetrack opened in 1870.
Horse race betting proved a popular pastime for New Jersey residents throughout the 1800s. Gambling of all forms was outlawed in the state from 1894 to 1939, but events at Freehold Raceway still ran throughout that period.
Pari-mutuel horse race betting was legalized again in 1939. In 1976, the state’s third major horse racing venue, Meadowlands Racetrack, opened in East Rutherford.
The modern-era horse racing industry in New Jersey includes Meadowlands Racetrack, a still-operating Freehold Raceway, and the current version of Monmouth Park Racetrack.
Online horse race betting is also legal in New Jersey, with the state-regulated 4NJBets platform available to bettors in the Garden State.
How Safe Is Online Horse Betting In New Jersey?
The 4NJBets platform operates as the only legal, state-regulated mobile horse race betting site in New Jersey.
TVG, one of the biggest and most trusted brands in US horse racing, owns and operates 4NJBets. As a legal betting platform, 4NJBets falls under the regulation of theNew Jersey Racing Commission.
With the oversight of the New Jersey Racing Commission in place, 4NJBets offers a safe betting experience and secure protection of personal and banking information.
Apart from 4NJBets, any platform offering online horse race betting in New Jersey is doing so illegally. While 4NJBets assures the security of betting funds, offshore/illegal betting sites do not offer the same level of safety.

One of the most prestigious thoroughbred events in American horse racing, the Haskell Invitational Stakes runs between the final leg of the Triple Crown and the Breeders Cup each year.

Hambletonian Stakes
One of harness racing’s biggest US events, the Hambletonian Stakes acts as the first leg of the Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Trotters.
The Hambletonian Stakes began in 1926. Meadowlands Racetrack currently hosts the race annually each August and started doing so in 1981.
The race awards a minimum total purse of $1,000,000 annually.
Important American And International Races

The Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes comprise the American Triple Crown. The trio of races runs annually, beginning with the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in May.
The Preakness Stakes generally runs two weeks after the Kentucky Derby, from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The Belmont Stakes completes the Triple Crown and runs three weeks after the Preakness Stakes from Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.
New Jersey bettors can legally bet on all three Triple Crown races on the 4NJBets platform.

No matter what the venue, the Breeders Cup is open for betting in New Jersey on the 4NJBets app.
International Races
Major overseas horse racing events like the Dubai World Cup, Melbourne Cup, Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and Grand National add even more betting options for New Jersey bettors.
4NJBets offers betting on these international races, as well as many others.
Do Racetracks Offer Casino Games?
Some horse racing facilities in the US also offer casino games on the property. These venues, known as racinos, offer the best of both worlds when it comes to horse race betting and casino gambling.
New Jersey doesn’t host any racinos, but horse racetracks are permitted to offer retail sports betting.
William Hill, one of the biggest brands in sports betting, became the first company to open a retail sportsbook in New Jersey. The Monmouth Park Sports Book by William Hill began taking wagers in June 2018.
Visitors to Meadowlands Racetrack can place sports bets at the on-site FanDuel Sportsbook. FanDuel Sportsbook operates both online and retail sports betting in New Jersey as a license partner of Meadowlands Racetrack. The FanDuel Sportsbook retail operation opened at the Meadowlands in July 2018.
Freehold Raceway will also likely eventually host a retail sportsbook, with the opening date for the operation pending.
Does New Jersey Have Off-Track Betting Facilities?
While retail horse race wagering in New Jersey goes back more than a century, off-track betting (OTB) facilities were formally legalized much more recently.
The Interstate Horseracing Act of 1978 legalized off-track betting on a federal level in the US. OTB parlors became legal in New Jersey with the passage of the Off-Track and Account Wagering Act in August 2001.
New Jersey bettors can find off-track betting at each of the state’s three major racetracks. Meadowlands Racetrack, Freehold Raceway, and Monmouth Park all operate as both live racing venues and OTB facilities.
Additional OTB locations include Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, as well as six standalone OTB parlors throughout the state. Five of these standalone parlors operate under the Favorites brand, including Favorites Egg Harbor and Favorites at Toms River.
All legal OTB parlors are regulated by the New Jersey Racing Commission.
